About Dr Tonja Johnson MD

Tonja Johnson MD was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Belmont University and completed medical school at East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of South Florida. She is currently board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She enjoys presenting workshops and keynote addresses in unique ways to promote change both for clinical and nonclinical audiences. Despite her busy schedule, she always makes time to present lectures to medical students and medical residents throughout the US regarding the potential impact of anti-black stereotypes on clinical decision making. She also works as a mentor of marginalized youth who want to pursue a career in medicine. In her leisure time, she enjoys sports, good music and the beach. She attributes her success to her faith and strong support from family and friends.
